5 habits that keep you safe

  1. Pause. Hurry is the scammer's favorite tool. A real bank, toll road or grandchild can wait five minutes.
  2. Check who is talking. Who posted it? Type the website yourself instead of tapping a link in a text.
  3. Call back on a number you already have. Pick a family safe word that only your family knows.
  4. Zoom in. AI still slips on writing in the picture, hands, and scenes that look too perfect.
  5. Use AI as a helper, not the final word. Ask it for its sources, then check them. Your doctor and pharmacist get the last word on your health. Never give a chatbot your Social Security, Medicare or bank numbers.
